About the UAEU PhD Program | 
| About the Program In May 2009, the UAEU announced the launch of the first PhD program at a national university in the United Arab Emirates.
| Starting in September 2009From September 2009, UAEU will begin accepting suitably qualified students into doctoral programs in each of its Colleges. UAEU’s program will allow UAE nationals to pursue doctoral studies in their own country at the nation’s premier national university. It will also attract PhD students from other nations. PhD Program ModelThe program will follow an American model, which involves one year of course work to be followed by research and the writing of a dissertation over a further two to three year period.
Standards will be high, with admission and program quality to be managed by the Board of Graduate Studies, chaired by the Provost, Professor Wyatt R. Hume. UAEU Research StrategyThe PhD program is part of the wider strategy to increase research capability at UAEU and represents and important step in the transformation of UAEU into a world-class research-intensive university.
