Research Proposals
Due to the current development and trends of international research work, which often utilize interaction and joint activities, cooperative efforts are encouraged among faculty members, groups within large departments, inter-department proposals and faculties.
Projects involving joint funding with other agencies and/or cooperative research efforts with other research organizations are similarly encouraged.
Faculty members prepare research proposals for both internally and externally funded projects. Completed applications, endorsed by the College Council, are submitted to the Research Affairs’ office. The principal investigators (PIs) are requested to prepare their proposals in accordance with the standard Research Support Application Forms and submit them via the Electronic Research Management and Support System (ERMSS) to accelerate electronic refereeing and processing procedures.
In preparing proposals, the PI is expected to interact with the Chairman of the Department(s) housing the project to secure the approval for allocation of required resources such as technical support and space facility.
The PI also interacts with the Department Research Coordinator(s) who may provide assistance in proposal preparation. The Coordinator(s) may also present a separate assessment of the proposal to the College Research Committee, after consultation with the Chairman of the Department and the Vice Dean for Research, regarding the merits of the proposed research and compatibility with the research program of the Department(s).
