Backup and restore your homepage

This tutorial explains how to Backup and Restore your faculty homepage.

Backup:

  1. Create a folder on your desktop and name it My_backup or Site_backup
  2. In Microsoft FrontPage, from your remote website directory, click on the main folder:


  3. From File menu select Publish Site


  4. From the first tab (Remote Web Site), select (File System), then browse your folders to locate the directory you created on your desktop:


     
  5. A dialog box will appear asking you to create a web on the specified location (this will appear only once), click on Yes:

     
  6. You will see that your window is separated into two parts, one for your web on the faculty server your left, another for the folder you just created on your right.

    Click on Publish Web site button as shown:

     
  7. If you have ASP or PHP files on your folder, you might see the following message. If you did, click on Ignore and Continue:

     
  8. It will now start downloading the site from the remote server to your local machine:

     
  9. On your desktop, you will be able to see a web folder containing your web page.

Restore:

  1. In Microsoft FrontPage From File menu, select Open Site:

  2. Browse your local machine, if you followed the above tutorial for back up, then your back will be located on the Desktop, click on the folder:

     
  3. It will show the folder content, click on Open:

     
  4. From the first tab (Remote Web Site), take the default choice (FrontPage or SharePoint Services), and put in the specified Location on the Remote Web site location, with your user name.

     
  5. You will see that your window is separated into two parts, one for your local computer on your left, another for your remote web space on your right, and now you can move files between the two to publish the web.
