The College of Science at the United Arab Emirates University held a meeting with graduate students from Hohai University and Beijing University on Monday, March 21st, 2016, to discuss cooperation in education and scientific research. Dr. Ahmed Murad, Dean of College of Science, and faculty from the Chinese universities were in attendance.
Dr. Murad said that, “This meeting promotes partnerships with two universities in different areas. This enhances the exchange of experience between the parties as they seek academic excellence and to develop research and innovation in areas of national and regional importance. This includes Science and Engineering.” He added that this meeting was an opportunity to collaborate with other universities. The Young Professors Program was discussed as was the launch of a map of radioactive isotopes in groundwater in the UAE. This will be developed by the College of Science in April 2016.
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation in areas of common interest, particularly in education and scientific research. Hohai University ranks first worldwide for water research, while Beijing University is the 20th best university in world rankings.
