The Fifth International Conference on Mathematical Sciences (ICM 2016) was launched on Monday, March 21st, 2016 by the Department of Mathematical Sciences in the College of Science at the United Arab Emirates University. Professor Mohammed Al Baili, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Murad, Acting Dean of the College of Science, deans, department heads and delegates were all in attendance in the College of Information Technology Theater on campus.
Professor Al Baili said that, “The conference highlights the role played by mathematics in various walks of life and its impact on other sciences and society in general.” He added that this conference allows for the exchange of ideas and also keeping up with the latest findings in the field. He concluded his speech with best wishes to the delegates and the hope that this conference will be a success. He thanked the official speakers and sponsors and also the Department of Mathematical Sciences and the College of Science for their efforts in organizing the conference.
Dr. Murad welcomed the participants and emphasized contribution of the conference to building effective communication channels between colleges and universities in the region. This helps to strengthen relations mathematicians in developed countries. He noted that the College of Science was hosting experts from the United States, the British Isles, France, Germany, India, the Gulf and other countries. There were more than 150 participants with 35 research papers being presented each day.
The conference runs from the 21st-24th of March. It promotes cooperation and communication among researchers in different fields of Mathematics to encourage discussion of the latest developments, research and their applications. This is in line with UAEU’s vision of building partnerships with the most prestigious educational institutions, research centers and regional and international organizations in order to exchange experiences.
