Research Grant Scholarships
Scholarships funded by research grants are available for Master and PhD students in most colleges. The scholarships
are available on a competitive basis to candidates who are accepted in their respective graduate programs and
are selected by the Principal Investigators to join their research projects as student researchers. The duration of a
scholarship is generally four (4) years for PhD students and two (2) years for Master students. Interested candidates
are advised to contact the principal investigator of the particular research project in order to get specific details on
the scholarship opportunity or additional information on the project. Lists of annually funded projects are available
on the CGS webpage in the ‹Scholarships, Fellowships, and Graduate Assistantships› section
( www.uaeu.ac.ae/en/cgs/scholarship.shtml ).
c) Fellowship recipients may accept other duties only at UAEU in order to work as, for example, teaching or
administrative assistants, and earn a stipend provided the new assignment does not interfere with the student›s
Fellowship duties and does not entail more than 10 hours of work per week. The student must obtain a written
permission from his/her Fellowship supervisor prior to accepting any such assignment and forward it to the College
of Graduate Studies.
d) All Fellowship recipients are expected to participate in activities that empower their research training at the
college and university levels, when possible and in coordination with their supervisors. Furthermore, students are
expected to present and publish their research outcomes under the guidance of their supervisors.
E. AVAILABILITY OF OPPORTUNITIES
Opportunities for Fellowships are normally available at the time of the student›s admission into the PhD program.
The number of awards made each year may vary depending on the availability of funds.
