Blackboard Upgrade
This project was part of UITS commitment to have the latest technologies and keep up with the industry standards. UITS
current standing is on Blackboard Learn 9.1 service pack 6 while the latest available is 12. Therefore, UITS decided to upgrade
to Blackboard Learn 9.1 service pack 12 which delivers exciting innovations as well as deep improvements to core capabilities,
resulting in a product that engages learners, increases educator efficiency and improves insight. The planned upgrade
maintains the existing functionality. While also providing opportunities for additional features and enhancements such
as grading assessments inside Blackboard, advanced discussion and blogging features. The upgrade also enables
the instructors to record and upload their videos through Web cam to Blackboard Directly. Moreover, Blackboard has
introduced a new retention centre, which provides an easy way for instructors to discover which students in their courses
are at risk. Student's engagement and participation are visually displayed, alerting them about any potential risk. An
additional feature added to Blackboard service pack 12 is enterprise surveys, which allows the university to collect feedback
from specific groups of people. Survey recipients are selected based on their role in the system, their enrollment in courses,
or their membership in a department or business unit.
