The College of Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS) at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) hosted the Member of Faculty of Occupational Medicine examinations of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. This examination was held at the same time as it was held in Dublin and Kuala Lumpur. The Royal College of Physicians awarded the right to host the Fellowship Examination to the Collage of Medicine and Health Sciences at UAEU because of the good reputation enjoyed by the college and its commitment to international medical standards.

Dr. Sulaiman Al Hammadi, Vice Dean of the CMHS, said that the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland enjoys a great reputation within the medical world and contributes to the development and maintenance of professional standards in the medical field. Membership of the Fellowship of this prestigious college can be achieved through passing the examinations hosted by UAEU as part of the strategic partnership between the two colleges.  

Dr. Al Hammadi added that the Institute of Public Health at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at UAEU organizes training courses for admission to the college’s Bachelor's degrees as well as opportunities to attain a fellowship. This is an annual opportunity that allows students to continue their education in the UAE under the supervision of qualified professors of occupational medicine. Therefore, they can study and take the examination in the UAE without the need to travel abroad.

Dr. Mohamed El Sadiq, Academic Assistant at the Institute of Public Health, explained that the examination proves that those who qualify for the certificate have achieved a basic level of competency in the practice of occupational medicine. The exam is directed primarily at general medical practitioners and those who work in occupational medicine. Passing the exam entitles the candidate to a professional license as an associate of the Royal College of Occupational Medicine, and privileged access to a range of educational programs. These programs allow the successful candidate the chance to help to shape the future direction of occupational medicine, and provide access to one of the most important medical libraries in Ireland. The UAEU testing center is the only center in the Gulf Region, the wider Middle East and Africa.
