Professor Mohamed Al Baili, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (Provost), hosted a meeting to discuss means of utilizing the cultural, scientific and academic relationships that exists between UAEU and various South Korean academic and industrial institutions. The meeting was conducted with his Excellency Kwon Hae-Ryong, the Ambassador of South Korea to the UAE, and his delegation, at the UAEU campus in Al Ain. Both sides discussed programs that are operated jointly by UAEU and various South Korean entities who collaborate in the fields of training, scientific research and also student and/or academic exchanges.

Professor Al Baili stressed that South Korean academic institutions and universities are good examples of technological development and that they adhere to the highest international standards in the delivery of their high quality education. He also mentioned that there is a lot of cooperation between these institutions and UAEU, particularly involving hands-on training in industries suitable for engineering and information technology students. These partnerships are constantly being enhanced and result in many joint activities to promote these strategic partnerships.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs thanked his Excellency, the South Korean Ambassador to the UAE and his delegation, and stated that he valued the cooperation with UAEU from the South Korean Embassy. In addition, as well as continuous support for these partnerships the Korean Embassy also supports the provision of Korean language courses in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at UAEU. Both parties have sought to strengthen and develop such courses.

Professor Reyadh Al Mehaideb, the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies, discussed several research issues in a separate meeting held with the South Korean Ambassador. The agenda focused on the exchange of research expertise in the field of clean energy, the latest industrial transformations and the possibility of increasing training opportunities for students at Korean companies and institutions.

Afterwards, the South Korean Ambassador met with students from the Korean Club – Arirang – at UAEU and got acquainted with the activities and events of the club, most especially mutual visits by both Emirati and Korean students. Then the delegation toured the university campus, visiting the library, the student activities buildings and scientific laboratories.
