Freshmen at UAEU take the Foundation Year Quick Program
Mon, 6 June 2022
As part of the United Arab Emirates University’s constant endeavors to achieve academic excellence and contribute positively to the development of the country by preparing future leaders and pioneers, more than 150 students recently took the Foundation Year ‘Quick Program’. This program is offered by the Admissions Department of the Student Affairs and Enrollment Department in coordination with the University College and Scientific Affairs Section.
This program is part of a university plan to reduce the number of freshmen enrolling in the foundation year. Students with a 90%, or higher, mark from high school, and an average of 175 or above in their CEPA English examination, take a three week intensive course instead of studying for a full academic year. The program covers three subjects (Arabic, English and Mathematics) and ran from the 3rd to the 21st of August.
Professor Ghaleb Ali Al Hadrami, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Enrollment, stressed the importance of the ‘Quick Program’ which is consistent with the university’s first objective in the 2014-16 strategic plan, seeking to prepare graduates to become leaders and pioneers in their respective fields. Ms. Amenah Nasser Al Balushi, the Director of Admissions, pointed out that the program had previously been implemented by the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, however, this year, it included students from every college at the university. The program represents a unique opportunity for large numbers of freshmen to complete their mandatory academic requirements in a relatively short time span.
