His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and also Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University, recently took receipt of two ISO certificates (the International Organization for Standardization). The first is for Information Technology Service Management (ITSM 20000) and the second for Information Security Management Systems (ISMS 27001).

His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahayan personally received the two certificates from Mr. Ayman Ktaily, the marketing and sales manager of Lloyds' Register of Quality Assurance (LRQA), part of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). The certificates were presented in the presence of Professor Mohamed Albaili, the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, and Ms. Afra Al Shamsi, Chief Information Officer. The ceremony took place in the Chancellor’s office located in the UAEU crescent building.

His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahayan stressed that this achievement was made possible due to the leaders of the UAE taking an interest in, and supporting, higher education institutions throughout the country in general, and UAEU in particular. This support helps to bolster leadership and excellence in higher education and scientific research on both a regional and international level as befits the foremost university in the country.

His Excellency also emphasized that UAEU is committed to enhancing educational services to the highest international standards and that gaining ISO certification is line with the university’s strategic goal of ensuring the quality, efficiency and transparency of their many administrative services. This in turn improves the capability of the university to support areas of national priority and importance in the UAE.
