The College of Law at the United Arab Emirates University organized an open day to introduce and promote its various disciplines and major subjects. This event was held in the College of Information Technology Theater on the morning of Tuesday 14^th April, 2015. Professor Mohamed Al Baili, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs; Dr. Ali Al Kaabi, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Enrollment; Dr. Mohammed Hassan, Dean of the College of Law, faculty and students were all in attendance.

Professor Mohamed Al Baili delivered an opening speech in which he stressed that, “This event is due to the eagerness of the university’s senior management to strengthen relations with community institutions and meet their needs by preparing well-qualified graduates who can help to improve various legal fields and sub-divisions within the discipline of law. This is also in harmony with the needs of the labor market and contributes to the progress and development of the country”.

Dr. Abdullah Al Khatib, Assistant Professor in the College of Law and Supervisor of the Legal Clinic, stressed that raising community awareness of the importance of the law and training students on legal issues is one of the objectives of UAEU. This serves also to transfer knowledge and skills to the community. He added that the legal clinic provides free advice in areas such as personal status, criminal and administrative matters.

The open day started with music from a military band. There was also an exhibition by the four participating bodies: Dubai Police Academy, the Institute of Training and Judicial Studies, the Crime Scene Department and the Legal Clinic from the College of Law at UAEU. Additionally the Mobile Court of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department made a visit, while the Security Inspection Department showcased their sniffer dogs. Finally, a crime was re-enacted under the supervision of the Crime Scene Department.
