The Media and Communications Department of UAE University organized a lecture entitled “Plantation in Islam: Status and Significance”, delivered by Dr. Abdulaziz Alkabissi, Associate Professor of the Department of Sharia & Islamic Studies of the College of Law, in the presence of the University’s students, on Wednesday, 25/2/2015, at the Business Center of the Crescent Building on campus.
This lecture aims to acquaint the students with the status and significance of the tree in Islam, being a plant in every home, and enhance their knowledge and social role towards caring for trees and plants. Dr. Abdulaziz Alkabissi pointed out the role of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in raising the banner of plantation and instilling this habit in his people, in order for them to interpret the teachings of Islam into something tangible, such as gardens, parks, and roads, as we see in the city of Al Ain, for example.
Dr. Abdulaziz Alkabissi talked about the benefits of plantation for the environment, in addition to the beauty of a place that has trees, and he also touched on the religious dimension with respect to plantation, for being a rewarding worship even after death. At the end, Dr. Abdulaziz responded to the questions of the students about the signs of interest in the dead land and reviving it with plantation, and highlighting the role of Islam in prompting plantation and its many benefits.
