The Human Resources Department at the United Arab Emirates University, in cooperation with the General Pension and Social Security Authority, recently organized a seminar on the UAE Pension Law in the Business Center at UAEU in Al Ain.

Awni Obeidat, legal adviser to the chairman of the General Pension and Social Security Authority, presented on the authority’s work and objectives. He highlighted the legal issues concerning social insurance, pension law and its insurance benefits and the services provided for the insured in terms of insuring pension benefits.

The seminar was attended by a large number of heads of departments, faculty and staff and provided an opportunity to ask questions to Juma Al Rumaithi, an adviser from the legal department and Hamad Al Ghafri, a legal officer at the authority. They answered questions and shed light on various topics related to the Pension Law, such as employee rights in retirement; how to combine services; worker’s rights and obligations in terms of social insurance, and the rights of heirs in the case of death.
