UAEU teams first in fitness and swimming

At the 8th Olympic Sports Tournament
The United Arab Emirates University honored the winning teams at the conclusion of the 8th Olympic Sports Tournament. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammed Bin Khalid Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Ain Football Club; Dr. Mohamed Al Baili, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Scientific Affairs; Dr. Ali Al Kaabi, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Enrollment, and representatives from government agencies, other institutions, schools, universities and other groups participating in the Sehati Program (2016) were all in attendance.
Dr. Al Baili stressed the importance of sporting events in reflecting how UAEU interacts with the community and provides many services. These events seek to develop sportsmanship and a competitive atmosphere where community groups can meet to recognize the value of sports for psychological and physical health and also value the efforts of the organizers as they try to establish an awareness of health issues across various institutions.
The closing ceremony included a display by the UAEU fencing team. In the tournament UAEU were first place in the fitness contest, and third in the swimming competition, while Abdul Aziz Al Yafii came third in the tennis competition.
The Olympic Sports Tournament is in its eighth year and had a very broad participation from government institutions, schools and universities. 15 schools participated from the Abu Dhabi Education Council, plus 16 government and private institutions, who competed in 7 different sports at UAEU.
