Towards the national innovation strategy
The University Science and Innovation Park organized a lecture, on Monday 5th of September 2016, on how to convert a classroom into an incubator for ideas and innovation. It was attended by speakers from international universities, faculty and students and was held in the Crescent Building Theatre in Al Ain.
Dr. Shawqi Kharbash, Executive Director of the Science and Innovation Park, stressed that this was a response to the directives of his Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai. He launched a national strategy for innovation aiming to make the UAE one of the most innovative countries in the world during the next seven years by supporting innovation.
The series of lectures entitled, “From Idea to Model” aim to encourage creativity by discussing the experiences and success stories of international speakers and experts in innovation. This further emphasizes the role of the university in preparing graduates who can shape the future through their cooperation with other institutions both regionally and internationally.
Dr. Andreas Hennecke, Head of Social Work Department at the European Business College in Germany, gave a presentation on different educational methods in the 21st century. He discussed the importance of an applied education in promoting student skills, the positive factors that contribute to the development of education and how to prepare students so they are capable of decision making, have moral values, self-awareness and a global mindset.
The program lasted for three days with global experts giving a series of lectures on how to transform creative ideas into concrete and distinctive innovations that can serve the wider community.
