The College of Humanities and Social Sciences at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) and the Social Science Academy from Zhejiang University have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance research collaboration and the exchange of knowledge between the two universities.
The MoU was signed on behalf of UAEU by Professor Hassan Al Naboodah, Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, and by Professor Ming Hu, Associate Dean in the Social Science Academy on behalf of Zhejiang University. Professor Lu Wei, Associate Dean as well as a Professor in the College of Media and International Culture, and a number of representatives from both institutions were also present at the signing hosted by UAEU at their Al Ain campus.
Prof. Mohammed Albaili, Vice Chancellor of UAEU, emphasized that UAEU is seeking to enhance relationships with other universities. He stated that signing the MoU was part of the desire to live up to the new university motto ‘The University of the Future’. It will also build partnerships and encourage integration with prestigious international intuitions. Prof. Albaili added that cooperation with Zhejiang University will promote research and encourage more specialized studies in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. This MoU enhances cooperation and the exchange of expertise in scientific research and education between the two parties and goes a long way to achieving UAEU’s vision of excellence as part of becoming a leading university.
The MoU includes exchanges of students, faculty and staff as well as collaborative research projects and collaborative academic activities (courses, sessions and conferences). The memorandum also allows for the exchange of knowledge, academic course materials, and other areas of common interest, while allowing each respective to maintain intellectual property rights.
