This achievement is part of a series of accomplishments by the university's sports teams in various athletic activities, both locally and internationally, as they compete in tournaments on both national and global levels.

The women's powerlifting team at the university accomplished this by earning a total of 14 medals across various categories in the 2023 Asia Classic Weightlifting Championship. The women's team, in particular, achieved the first-place ranking overall, earning 35 points.

Notable individual achievements include: Student Reem Omar, in the +84 kg category, secured second place. Student Hajar Mabrouk, in the -84 kg category, earned third place. Student Hamda Ali, in the -76 kg category, also achieved third place. Student Raghad Badawi, in the -76 kg category, secured fourth place.

This success was attained in a competition that featured 48 universities from 11 countries, hosted by the Emirate of Sharjah as part of the inaugural "Asia University Powerlifting Championship." The championship is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of the Emirate of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, and is organized by the University of Sharjah in collaboration with the Emirates Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation.

Furthermore, in international sports, the university's teams excelled in athletics and fencing at the "World University Games," which took place in Chengdu, People's Republic of China, from July 27th to August 7th, 2023. Athlete Hamad Al-Yahyai participated in the 800-meter race, achieving the 34th position out of 48, marking a new personal record for the athlete in international competitions.

Mr. Ibrahim Mukhtar, the Head of the University's Sports Activities Unit, emphasized that the university's sports teams have achieved numerous outstanding sporting accomplishments recently, garnering several awards and championships. These achievements further enrich the university's sports activities by providing valuable experiences to students through programs and extracurricular activities that enhance their academic journey at the university. This aligns with the university's strategic goals and contributes to the development of students' talents and interests.
