Researchers from the Big Data Analytics Center (BiDAC) are currently developing a
Pandemic Simulator to provide a better understanding of the effects of social distancing
and isolation on the development of the pandemic. To model the virus behavior, a settings
panel is provided to explore the spreading characteristics in small, medium or large
cities. The Simulator is user friendly and intuitive for technical and non-technical
users. It has four settings for the simulation of social distancing that would allow/disallow:
to work, visit other houses, visit social areas or go to school. All probabilities
can be set before the initialization of the simulation or during the runtime to observe
the effects during a pandemic.
The Simulator is accessible at https://bi-dac.com/simulator/. The team is currently extending its support to answer questions such as what would happen if schools, social areas and workplaces are gradually reopened?
