ICT Fund dedicates 80 Study and Financial Scholarships for the distinguished students at “UAEU”

The ICT Fund, a subsidiary of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has recently announced to offer

new scholarships for the distinguished students within 'Betha' program during an agreement signing ceremony with 'UAE University'. The 80 Study and Financial scholarships are distributed as: 50 financial grants for the Bachelor's program and 30 study scholarships for the Master’s program, to study in the field of “Information and Communications Technology”. These scholarships are considered a real activation of the current strategy of the UAE to invest in the educational field, and to provide all support and care for this vital and important field.

H.E. Dr. Abdulqader Al Khayat said: "Our partnership with the 'UAE University' reflects our mutual concern in strengthening the cooperation spirit amongst the local ICT partners in the UAE. This direction would be translated by providing Betha Program’s most interesting offerings and raising awareness of the project and in turn, support scientifically distinguished Emirati students to study subjects in technology field based on the UAE’s needs. The Betha scholarships program is witnessing remarkable exposure across the UAE, in line with the directives by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai who assured that the best usage of modern technologies in UAE universities and colleges will contribute to the whole transformation towards technology-based community. Also it will enable the UAE future generations being a part of creativity and excellence to participate in building the modernity in the UAE society."                    

For his part, Dr. Ali Rashid Al Noaimi, Vice Chancellor of the “UAE University”, who signed the agreement on behalf of the university, thanked the ICT Fund, and pointed out that the scholarship is a genuine interpretation of the wise leadership’s approach to support education and the students of UAE, and to prepare a generation armed with required knowledge, and able to bear responsibility and lead in all aspects of society in our precious country. On the other hand, he emphasized the leading role of the university and its scientific capability, and its competency as a leading national educational institution that pays special attention to the communications and information technology field which is considered the language of the future  connecting between populations.                     

Professor Reyadh Almehaideb, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies, explained that the conditions of this scholarship are that the student should be a UAE citizen, having obtained the Secondary School Certificate with a minimum average of 85%,  has no academic warnings, and is accepted to study in one of the ICT majors offered by the University, which include within the College of Engineering the Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Communications Engineering, Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, and the Master of Engineering Management (for students completing their BSc in one of the ICT fields), and within the College of Information Technology: the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, and the Master of Science programs in Information Security, Information Management, Network Engineering, Software Engineering, and Information Technology.
