The (3rd) “International Conference on Renewable Energy: Generation and Applications” (ICREGA’14) recommends the support of researchers’ efforts and studies

The “College of Engineering” of “UAE University” organized the (3rd) “International Conference on Renewable Energy: Generation and Applications” (ICREGA’14), in cooperation with “Abu Dhabi Water and Energy Authority” on Monday (3/3/2014) at the “College of Information Technology” at the new campus in “Al Ain” City. This conference is considered an international forum to discuss pioneering scientific researches about the latest developments in the field of renewable energy and its future all over the world, and in the Gulf region and “UAE” in particular.

                     

Professor “Mohamed Albaili”, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (Provost), inaugurated the conference in the presence of Professor “Reyadh Almehaideb”, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies, Engineer “Bader Nasser Al Thehli”, Executive Operation Director of “Al Ain Distribution Company”, and a group of researchers, scientists, specialists in the field of research and renewable energy studies, and students. “Albaili” stressed, in his opening speech, the importance of the conference, because of the high significance of clean renewable energy in moving and supporting and economies of countries, and its direct impact on their future and development, praising the role of the researchers and scientists in all countries of the world, and the efforts they exert to develop this field. “Almehaideb” recommended to the participants that they seriously seek to provide the frameworks and mechanisms to ensure the marketing of alternative energy projects, and to expand the foundation of investment globally, with the development of education and provision of all necessary means of care for talented students, and to develop creativity and innovation in them. In the meantime, the “UAE University” is always seeking to engage its students in forums and all international and scientific conferences in order to develop their talents and capabilities. “Al Thehli” said that the University’s efforts and its research participations and studies are consistent with the national “UAE Vision 2012” and “Abu Dhabi vision 2030” in supporting and unifying the efforts to depend on alternative energy resources, and to support the Emirati cadres in this important field. Dr. “Hassan Hejase”, General Chair of the Conference Committees, said that the University is keen on organizing the Conference and inviting specialists, scientists, and researchers in the field of energy from different universities and research institutions every year. In this (3rd) edition of the Conference, (70) scientific research papers, which handle major issues in renewable energy, will be presented, and more than (28) posters on energy will be put on display, in addition to engaging University students in the discussions and dialogue sessions which will be on the sidelines of keynote speeches. Dr. “Hejase” clarified that there will be three workshops on energy and its future and the alternative resources, which will be delivered by the experts: Dr. “Nirmala Khandan”, Ed & Harold Foreman Endowed Professor, Civil Engineering Department, New Mexico State University, USA, Dr. “Mutasim Nour”, Director of MSc Energy and Renewable Energy programs “Heriot-Watt University”, “Dubai” Campus, and Dr. “Issa Batarseh”, from “University of Central Florida” in “USA”. The Conference will also include seminars that discuss many issues and challenges that hinder the research efforts exerted in this area. Dr. “Hejase” also clarified that this Conference, which is held in the UAE, that place high importance on this field as part of its future vision, will produce a series of recommendations and suggestions, which will most likely be a call for the government institutions and the major industrial companies to support the researchers and specialist in the field of renewable energy.
