UAEU provides hands-on training for 160 students from the faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences

The Professional Development Department in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) organized a meeting for 160 students undertaking practical training on Sunday, January 17th, 2016 in the Crescent Building. Additionally there was a workshop on professional communication.
Professor Mohammed Rashid Al Noaimi, Assistant Dean for Professional Development, said that, “the professional training course is important in preparing students for the labor market, in developing their self-awareness, and was a good opportunity for students to market themselves when in pursuit of their first job”. He added that, “we are preparing students for the labor market and the institutions in question have praised the students’ competence”.
Ms. Afra Al Muhairi, a training specialist in the college, talked about the responsibilities of the students who must comply with both university regulations and the rules of the institution where they train. In addition, they must maintain confidentiality regarding the work of the institution.
Professor Ahmed Al Mansouri, a professor in the Department of Mass Communications, presented on professional communication. He gave advice and guidance to students in order to prepare them for practical training and to develop their communication skills. He said that, “students need to acquire professional skills to prove themselves. They should seek out jobs compatible with their skills and abilities”.
