UAEU Organizes a Media Appreciation Day

As part of the Year of Giving (2017), Professor Mohamed Al Baili, Vice Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University, honored journalists, media professionals and institutions that work closely with UAEU. This event was organized by UAEU Media and Communications Department and was held on Wednesday, 22nd May, 2017 in the auditorium of the main IT building. Professor Ghaleb Al Hadrami, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies, and a number of deans, faculty and students were all present.

This reflected a sincere appreciation of the efforts of media institutions and individuals to enhance UAEU’sstrategic direction during its 41-year history by promoting the national university’s vision. This vision values leadership and innovation in higher education, scientific research and community service both on the local and global levels.

Professor Al Baili highlighted the role of media partners in promoting UAEU’s mission, vision and goals, and in producing and disseminating knowledge in order to serve society. UAEU’s move into becoming a research-based university has enhanced the university’s role in developing higher education as the UAE seeks a knowledge-based, sustainable economy.   

A panel discussion looked at methods to foster further cooperation between UAEU and the media. Also discussed were UAEU’s strategic priorities and initiatives to serve society.

Following the event Professor Al Baili and representatives of the media toured an exhibition being held alongside the event. The exhibition highlighted the achievements of UAEU’s colleges and research centers as well as student innovations, and also demonstrated the leading role the university community play in serving wider society.
