UAEU honors winners of Innovation and Translation Technology Competition 2018

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) honored the first three winners of the Innovation and Translation Technology Competition 2018. The honoring aimed to enhance innovation and creativity and appreciate the students’ efforts in developing innovations that improve translation technologies to meet students’ and society’s needs.
Dr. Muza Al Tunaiji, Translation Department, stated that this competition came as a result of a brainstorming session to come up with best ideas that can promote developing translation technology and enhance innovation culture among students of the college.
The student winners expressed their pleasure for winning the competition, as it motivates them to innovate further innovations in their field. The student, Hafsa Ateeq Al Falasi, won the first place for her innovative idea “Trans-Smart” which is an innovative glass that can read texts and interpret them to the user by a headset. She is looking forward to develop her innovation further by using applications that can enhance its performance.
The students Wafaa Awad and Mariam Mahmoud, won the second and third places respectively, for their innovative device for special needs called ‘Mutargimi’ [My Translator] which features a program that can transfer texts into Braille Language for visually impaired people to enable them to read, write and listen to lectures and to do their course work assignments.
