The College of Information Technology (CIT) at United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) organized a seminar on artificial intelligence, blockchain and LinuxOne with the attendance of a number of UAEU faculty members and students.
The seminar, presented by the two expert scholars: Karl Duvalsaint and Guillaume Lasmayous from IBM, focused on the differences between machine learning and deep learning, with current applications used in everyday life, and the basics of Von Neumann Architecture, specialized parallel computer architectures, and quantum computing architectures. The seminar also addressed how the blockchain technique revolutionized many industries and made Hyperledger a unique technique, and explained the LinuxOne cloud.
"The aim of the seminar is to enable students and faculty to obtain free virtual machines and containers at any time,” explained Professor Khaled Shuaib, Acting Dean of the College of Information Technology. “The seminar discussed how academic institutions in Europe, Asia and North America use this free service and the teaching platform of Linux using open source software and description of code styles available on blockchain."
Such seminars delivered by leading companies such as IBM are of great benefit to students and faculty from different disciplines and contribute to bridging the gap between the academic aspect and the IT industry and its new trends.
