The first BCI Designer Hackathon at UAEU
Mon, 6 June 2022
The College of Information Technology at United Arab Emirates University will host the first Virtual BCI Designer Hackathon in collaboration with g.tec Company and top international universities. The Hackathon will take place on Thursday July 2nd through Friday July 3rd, 2020. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, only 8 teams will be selected to participate in the virtual hackathon. Each team will be composed of two students and will be required to remotely join the hackathon from their physical location. Participating teams will be provided with all of the necessary materials (e.g., mobile robot, drone, and EEG equipment) to develop an innovative BCI application in a domain of their choice. The Hackathon participants will also have the opportunity to attend virtual BCI presentations offered during the summer school. These presentations are designed to teach students how to record brain activity, how to use a P300 speller, and how to develop BCI applications. For registration and further information, please visit the following link: https://www.br41n.io/Summer-School-2020).
The Hackathon jury will be composed of:
- Abdelkader Nasreddine Belkacem (United Arab Emirates University, UAE)
- Christoph Guger (g.tec neurotechnology GmbH, Austria)
- Dean Krusienski (Virginia Commonwealth University, USA)
- Grace Rigdon (EEE Brain Initiative, USA)
- Masayuki Hirata (Osaka University, Japan)
- Paul Sajda (Columbia University, USA)
- Maryam Alimardani (Tilburg University, Netherlands)
In conjunction with the Virtual BCI Designer Hackathon, the organizers will run a Virtual BCI & Neurotechnology Summer School from June 29th through July 3rd, 2020. The Summer School 2020 targets students, professors and professionals who have a strong and vested interest in biomedical engineering, neuroscience, signal processing and brain-computer interfaces. The 5-days event combines virtual talks and keynotes by international experts in these fields and a BR41N.IO BCI Designer Hackathon. The knowledge and practical experience participants acquire during the BCI & Neurotechnology Summer School will prepare them to successfully complete University courses, paving the way for a deeper understanding and innovation in the field of BCI and Neurotechnology.
All UAEU students are welcome to join the event free of charge.
Should you have any questions or require additional information about how to participate in these events, please, do not hesitate to contact via email Dr. Abdelkader Nasreddine Belkacem (belkacem@uaeu.ac.ae).
