Overview
The College of Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS) - UAE University strives for excellence in medical education, clinical training, and research. The College aims to graduate highly professional and competent physicians who are able to compete internationally. Therefore, the CMHS program for Medicine sets high standards in the recruitment and admission processes of potential candidates. The CMHS M.D. program for Medicine provides a unique integrated, multidisciplinary approach to learning. The College offers admission into Medicine for undergraduates (fresh graduates of grade 12 and candidates transferring into the MD program). The CMHS also invites you to explore the possibilities of Health Sciences programs offered by the College.

Announcement
Applicants to the M.D. program at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences- UAE University (CMHS-UAEU) should rank the UAEU as option # 1 on the Ministry of Education NAPO system. They must regularly update their profile and upload required documents and certificates.
Candidates' details will be extracted directly from the NAPO system. Only those selected MD program at the CMHS-UAEU as the 1st option will be reviewed. Current students (as per NAPO status), nationals or children of national mothers who studied in the accepted high school tracks will be selected and shortlisted for Admission Exam (MCQ). Those passing the admission exam (MCQ) will be shortlisted for Mini Multiple Interviews (MMI) conducted at CMHS. Dates and timings of the scheduled admission exam (MCQ) and Mini Multiple Interview (MMI) will be communicated to candidates by SMS messages or e-mail or phone by the Office of Students Affairs at the College. Due to limitations in the seat numbers that can be offered for admission into the program, the final decision on admission will take into consideration the overall performance in the 3 requirements (High School Grades, Admission Exam (MCQ), and Mini Multiple Interview (MMI).
Application Deadlines
The application deadline in NAPO for the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences is 31 March 2026. Please note that applications submitted after this deadline will not be reviewed.
Policy
Candidates will be admitted to the College of Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS) in accordance with the general policies and regulations established by the UAE University.
Admission applications to the CMHS - UAE University are processed in liaison with the Ministry of Education (MOE) central admission office; and the National Admissions and Placement Office (NAPO).
Admission of candidates into Medicine - CMHS is competitive and merit-based. The limited number of seats are awarded to candidates with the best academic performance in High School grades, Admission Exam (MCQ), and Mini Multiple Interview (MMI).

- Admission is only for UAE nationals and children of Emirati mothers.
- Choose the College of Medicine and Health Sciences (Doctor of Medicine program) as your first Choice in NAPO.
- English:
- Minimum 80% in High School English (QFEmirates Level 3), or
- Proof of proficiency: [525 TOEFL (ITP), 70 TOEFL (iBT), or 194 TOEFL (CBT)].
- Mathematics:
- Minimum 90% in High School Mathematics (QFEmirates Level 3), or
- SAT (590), AP (4), IB (5 - High Level), or GCE (B - A Level).
For Elite and SABIS streams, a minimum 85% in High School Mathematics is required.
- Science:
- Minimum 90% in two Science subjects (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics - QFEmirates Level 3), or
- AP (4), IB (5 - High Level), or GCE (B - A Level).
For Elite and SABIS streams, a minimum 85% in two Science Subjects is required.
- Passing the CMHS Admission Exam (MCQ), which will be held during four periods only, from 24/01/2026 to 11/04/2026.
- Passing the Mini Multiple Interviews (MMI), which will be held during four periods only, from 07/02/2026 to 18/04/2026
- Students must select “Doctor of Medicine” as their first choice through the NAPO system prior to 31st March 2026. Students who select the program on NAPO after 31/3/2026 will not be reviewed.
- Graduates from previous years are not eligible for admission to the College of Medicine. Only recent high school graduates (current-year students) are considered. Applications from male students who have completed national service after graduation will be reviewed individually.

- Transfer requests are processed during the end of Second Semester for Fall 2025
- Students requesting a transfer must complete their Second Semester, as our admissions process operates on an annual basis.
- The GPA at the time of transfer application will be considered.
- Admission is open to UAE nationals and children of Emirati mothers.
- Applicants should not have completed more than 50% of credit hours in their current College/Program.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.
- A minimum 80% in High School English (QFEmirates Level 3), or Proof of proficiency: [525 TOEFL (ITP), 70 TOEFL (iBT), or 194 TOEFL (CBT)] is mandatory, along with meeting the minimum requirements for approved school systems and certificates (e.g., Advanced, Science, Elite, ATHS, SABIS, IB).
- Note: Medicine is not available to graduates of the General Stream.

- A minimum 90% in High School Mathematics (QFEmirates Level 3), or SAT (590), AP (4), IB (5 - High Level), or GCE (B - A Level).
- A minimum 90% in two Science subjects (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics - QFEmirates Level 3), or AP (4), IB (5 - High Level), or GCE (B - A Level).
- Applicants must pass the admission MCQ exam set by the College.
- Applicants who pass the MCQ exam will qualify for the Multiple Mini Interviews (MMI) conducted by the College (for shortlisted candidates only).
- Admission decisions are competency-based and subject to seat availability.

Proposed Admission Criteria for BSc. Degree Holders into the 3rd Year of the MD Program
The College of Medicine & Health Sciences (CMHS) - United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) strives to recruit academically competent and psychologically resilient candidates most likely to meet the high demands of a full-time medical training program. The selection process is rigorous, competitive, merit-based, and transparent.
Below are the criteria for admission of BSc. degree holders into the MD program (graduate entry):
- Admission is limited to Emirati candidates and children of Emirati mothers.
- The applicant must possess a bachelor’s degree in Biological, Biomedical, Health, Life Sciences, or an equivalent field from an accredited university.
- An equivalency certificate for the bachelor’s degree from the Ministry of Education, UAE is required.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0-point scale or its equivalent on a non-GPA grading system.
- A minimum English proficiency score is required:
- IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0 or
- TOEFL score of 600
- Courses completed during the bachelor’s degree should include:
- Chemistry and Organic Chemistry
- Biochemistry
- Human Anatomy and Physiology
- Microbiology, Immunology, and Basic Pathophysiology
- Cell Biology, Genetics, and Molecular Biology
- Behavioral Sciences and Public Health
- Statistics
- Two recommendation letters are required.
- Short-listed candidates must pass the end-of-Year 2 MD program course exam set by CMHS.
- Short-listed candidates must undergo a Mini Multiple Interview (MMI) to assess cognitive and non-cognitive traits, including aptitude for the MD program.
- Applicants must secure a sponsor to cover tuition fees during their study.

Admission Process
- Candidates aspiring to join the College of Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS) - UAE University; should register in the National Admission and Placement Office (NAPO) of the Ministry of Education (MOE), and rank the UAE University as their number 1 in the options list.
- Current students (as per NAPO status), nationals or children of national mothers who studied in the accepted high school tracks will be selected and shortlisted for Admission Exam (MCQ). Those who pass the exam will be shortlisted to take the Mini Multiple Interviews (MMI). Depending on the collective performance of MCQ exam and MMI, a conditional offer will be given for admission into the program granted the applicant has fulfilled high school grade requirements (see Admission Criteria section).
- Please note the following deadline for the admission process:
- Registration and application through the NAPO system for the MD program is 31st March 2026.
Admission Exam (MCQ)
The admission examination for eligible students is offered to students who fulfil the minimum entry criteria: current student, nationals (or children of national mothers), high school certificate in the advanced track or equivalent curriculum.
The admission examination (MCQ) is only offered once. Failure in the exam means the candidate is not eligible to enter the MMI and will not be considered for admissions.
The CMHS Admission MCQ exam is designed to assess candidates’ knowledge of Physics, Biology, Math, Chemistry and Comprehension
- The exam will be conducted in the Assessment Hall at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences.
- The exam will consist of 100 multiple-choice questions to be completed in 150 minutes.
- The examination is computer-based and is in English language.
- The exam questions will be on scientific subjects (Math, Biology, Physics, and Chemistry) and Comprehension derived from the curriculum of high school
- All candidates must present at the examination site 1 hour prior to the start time of the scheduled session. MCQ exam logistics will be shared via e-mail with candidates.

Multiple Mini Interviews (MMI)
Academic Year 2025-2026
- The MMI is a station-based set of short interviews that are meant to assess candidates’ non-academic skills such as ethical decision-making, critical thinking, effective communication/problem solving, and empathy among other competencies. Applicants will be rotating through a series of up to 10 stations, each focusing on a different task or dilemma to discuss in a limited time period (total of 5 minutes) with two minutes to move in between the stations.
- MMI will be conducted only face-to-face at the CMHS. Scheduled date and time will be communicated to each candidate shortlisted for MMI by Phone or e-mail or SMS message.
- Candidates should not disclose the content of their own interviews to a third party.
