BIOGRAPHY
I have obtained my Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Biochemistry with a special focus on biocatalysis, from University College Dublin (UCD), Ireland. Where I worked on the construction of novel biocatalysts for industrial applications. After my Ph.D., I joined a “Proteomics lab” at University College Dublin for my postdoc studies and investigated the role of chromatin remodeling Mega Dalton protein complexes in gene regulation with Mass Spectrometry. Later on, I joined the Department of Neuropsychiatry, Royal College of Surgeons Ireland (RCSI), and explored the role of protein complexes and post-translational modifications (PTMs) in Schizophrenia. I joined the Department of Chemistry, UAEU as an assistant professor of Biochemistry in August 2019. I am interested in different protein chemistry aspects, especially in the engineering of natural enzymes and microbial metabolic pathways for biotechnological applications, protein-protein interactions, and epigenetic regulatory protein complexes. Production of non-digestible fibers for the food, feed, and pharmaceutical industry, discovery of natural antimicrobial compounds, and genome editing with CRISPR/Cas are my current research focus.
