Engineering Requirements Unit

Engineering Requirements Unit

The Engineering Requirements Unit (ERU) serves the engineering students by providing them with solid foundation in basic science, mathematics and general engineering fundamentals. Our Pre-Engineering program is designed to prepare students for all engineering major disciplines. The ERU manages and coordinates with the College of Science and the College of Business and Economics to offer all basic science and statistics courses that are required to be taken by all students in the College of Engineering. Moreover, the unit offers the general fundamental engineering courses that are needed for all our Engineering students. The curriculum at the College of Engineering is developed to help the freshman students understand more fully what the field of engineering is, the various opportunities available in the field, and the connection between their high school courses and future study of engineering. Therefore, the teaching methodology of the offered courses emphasizes hands-on learning, teamwork, effective use of technology, and strong communication skills.

The main tasks of the unit include, but not limited to, engineering students counseling and advising, periodic review and update of ERU courses, outcome assessment of all ERU courses following ABET and CAA criteria, and coordination with various departments to offer the required courses and make the necessary development and changes in these courses.
