The United Arab Emirates University concluded the "Manuscripts Exhibition: Sustainable Identity and Development," hosted at the House of Wisdom in Sharjah over a period of ten days. The exhibition attracted approximately 6,000 visitors, including researchers, scholars, university students, individuals with an interest in manuscripts and heritage, and members of the public, reflecting the growing interest in knowledge and cultural content and its role in promoting cultural awareness.
Representing the culmination of collaboration between academic and cultural institutions, the exhibition brought together one of the United Arab Emirates University's distinguished collections of rare manuscripts with one of the country's leading cultural landmarks. Through a contemporary exhibition concept, it showcased the manuscripts while highlighting their scientific, intellectual, and cultural significance.
Through its carefully curated content, the exhibition shed light on manuscripts as authentic primary sources that document the evolution of science and knowledge and reflect the long-standing traditions of research, authorship, and learning. It also contributed to introducing this intellectual legacy to new generations through a perspective that aligns with the contemporary cultural and knowledge landscape.
The initiative further highlighted the importance of integration between cultural and academic institutions in the United Arab Emirates and the vital role such collaboration plays in preserving the nation's intellectual heritage and making it accessible to researchers and the wider community, thereby enhancing its utilization and supporting its sustainability within the cultural landscape.
The event further enriched the cultural and scientific landscape by highlighting manuscripts as a source of inspiration for re-examining and reimagining the evolution of human knowledge. It also provided a platform for engaging new generations by connecting scientific heritage with contemporary challenges and opportunities, in line with the UAE's vision for sustainable cultural development.
This exhibition forms part of the United Arab Emirates University's ongoing efforts to preserve and safeguard intellectual heritage while showcasing its rare manuscript collections. It also reflects the University's commitment to expanding partnerships with cultural institutions in a manner that enhances access to knowledge and further reinforces the value of manuscripts as an integral part of scientific and civilizational memory.
