Prof. Abderrahmane Lakas is a distinguished academic and industry professional, currently
serving as a Computer Engineering Professor at the College of Information Technology.
He also holds the role of Assistant Dean for Research and Graduate Studies and leads
the Autonomous Systems and IoT lab (ASIL) at the CIT.
With a background including a PhD and MSc in Computer Systems from the University of Paris and a BSc from the National Institute of Informatics, Prof. Lakas has shown exceptional leadership and expertise throughout his career. Prior to joining UAE University, he gained valuable experience in telecommunications at companies like Nortel Networks and Netrake Inc. His research spans next-generation wireless networks, IoT, autonomous systems, UAVs, disaster response technologies, Brain-Machine Interface (BMI), AI, and Machine Learning for network optimization.
His work is widely published in prestigious journals, and he is actively involved in professional societies, notably as a senior member of the IEEE and an Associate Editor for IEEE Access and IET Networks. Prof. Lakas has received numerous awards for his contributions and is recognized as a top scientist worldwide in the Stanford/Elsevier World ranking.
