Abdulrahman Kalbat has been an Assistant Professor in the Electrical Engineering Department
at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) since 2016. He also currently serves
as the Project Manager of Industry District 4.0 at UAEU, where he is establishing
research capabilities related to the fourth industrial revolution in collaboration
with industry partners.
He received his Bachelor's degree from UAEU in 2011 and his Master's degree from Columbia University in the City of New York in 2013, both in Electrical Engineering. He obtained his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University in 2016 under the supervision of Prof. Javad Lavaei. He was a visiting scholar in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research at UC Berkeley from September 2015 to February 2016 and a visiting scientist in the Intelligent Systems Division at NASA Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, California, from June to August 2011. Abdulrahman Kalbat focuses on various interdisciplinary problems in control theory, optimization, power systems, and distributed computation.
During his Master's and Ph.D. studies, he received the UAE University National Teaching Assistant Program scholarship from 2011 to 2016. In recognition of his exceptional performance during his graduate studies, he received an award from UAEU and the Sheikh Rashid Award for Scientific Outstanding in 2016 and 2018, respectively. He was selected as an affiliate of the Mohammed bin Rashid Academy of Scientists since 2017 and is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS).
