UAEU Alumni Award

The UAEU Alumni Award aims to:

• Enhance and sustain the university s long-term relationship with alumni;
• Facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience by connecting alumni with each other and with current students, faculty and staff;
• Recognize the achievements of alumni, emphasizing their roles as leaders in different disciplines;
• Engage alumni, as one of the main stakeholders, in the key initiatives of the university.

Four categories of the award will be established as follows:

1. UAEU Alumni Award for Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship;
2. UAEU Alumni Award for Community Engagement;
3. UAEU Alumni Award for the Empowerment of Women;
4. UAEU Alumni Wall of Fame.

In each of the first three categories, there will be six awards made. Ten alumni will be inducted into the UAEU Alumni Wall of Fame.

General Criteria:

1. Candidates must be graduates of UAEU;
2. Candidates must exhibit outstanding achievement in their field;
3. Alumni who have been awarded in one of the categories may not apply again for the same category. However, they may apply for another category after a minimum of three years after being successful in being awarded in any category;
4. In order to qualify for nomination, candidates should have a minimum of two years experience in the field of work, study or business following graduation from UAEU;
5. At least one supporting letter is required to second the nomination of a candidate.

Applications for the Awards should include:

• Contact details of the nominee and nominator;
• Nominee s most recent CV;
• 2-3 page summary of achievements;
• Other documents to support the nomination: achievement statement; newspaper articles, research activities, website, etc. (evidences)

1. Alumni Award for Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship

Will be awarded to outstanding UAEU alumni who have accomplished one or more of the following achievements:

• Launched successful business venture(s) at national and/or international levels;
• Demonstrated a sustained contribution in his/her field through scholarly activities, practices, and/or innovation at national, regional and/or international levels;
• Demonstrated the impact of his research, innovation and entrepreneurship;
• Supports UAEU research mission and maintains active collaboration channels with the university.

2. Alumni Award for Community Engagement

Will be awarded to committed UAEU alumni who have accomplished one or more of the following achievements:

• Demonstrated a positive impact on the community through his/her work and activities related to social innovation;
• Demonstrated active involvement in social enterprise, volunteerism, humanitarian efforts, and community development;
• Made valuable contributions toward achieving sustainable development goals, nationally, regionally or internationally;
• Exhibited significant efforts related to community development through teaching, research, administration, practice, or any combination of these.

3. Alumni Award for the Empowerment of Women

Will be awarded to inspiring UAEU female alumni who have accomplished one or more of the following achievements:

• A proven record of high-integrity leadership skills in her field of expertise alongside a tangible and sustained contribution to the advancement of women in organizations, industry, or the community;
• An engagement in actions to raise the status of women through education, awareness, literacy, and training;

• Played a crucial role in addressing women s issues and/or developed approaches to elevate female status and empower women;
• Evidenced that she has overcome barriers in her career, demonstrated key achievements in her profession, and served as a mentor or volunteer in her profession to further the advancement and skills of other women.

 4. Alumni Wall of Fame

The Alumni Wall of Fame will recognize the outstanding achievements and legacy of UAEU graduates after they leave the university, including professional achievements and/or work in the field of public service.  Ten such alumni will be inducted into the UAEU Alumni Wall of Fame during an Annual UAEU Alumni Reunion.

The candidates ability to enhance the reputation and visibility of UAEU will be considered in making the award and the following requirements must be met:

• Held or currently hold leadership positions within their communities and/or workplaces;
• Made significant contributions towards the welfare and/or success of those around them. In doing so, they should have demonstrated effort above and beyond the norm for someone in their position, while displaying character and integrity.
• Have a level of engagement with UAEU and its faculty/students.
