Credit-Bearing Micro-Credential in Accounting Foundations
The CBMC in Accounting Foundations is a 6-credit, stand-alone, non-stackable credit-bearing micro-credential that provides non-business students with essential knowledge and practical skills in financial and management accounting. Students will learn how to record and interpret accounting transactions, prepare and analyze basic financial statements, and apply cost and management accounting tools to support planning, budgeting, cost control, and decision-making. The micro-credential develops foundational accounting competencies that help students understand financial information and apply accounting concepts in practical business contexts.
Admission Requirements
- Applicants should hold a recognized no-business bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification approved by the University.
- High-achieving non-business undergraduate students with a GPA of 3.0 or above and have completed 75 credit hours or more.
- Because the CBMC has no formal prerequisites, the CBMC may be offered to non-business graduates and other eligible learners seeking entry-level accounting preparation.
- As a stand-alone CBMC, applicants are not required to meet admission requirements for a specific degree program; however, any future use of these courses toward a degree would remain subject to university admission and credit-recognition policies.
- Currently enrolled College of Business students or graduates are not eligible to enroll in this CBMC, as the micro-credential is designed to provide foundational accounting knowledge for non-business learners.
- Courses completed as part of this CBMC will not be double-counted toward degree requirements. Current UAEU degree students may be subject to enrollment restrictions if any CBMC course is already included as a required or elective course in their degree program. Enrollment will be reviewed in accordance with applicable UAEU policies and CBMC requirements.
- Admission to the CBMC will follow the UAEU undergraduate admissions cycle. This is with intake available in both the Fall and Spring semesters, subject to university admission timelines and offering arrangements.
Targeted Students
The CBMC is open to non-business graduates, career changers, aspiring entrepreneurs, early-career professionals, and other lifelong learners who seek foundational knowledge in accounting. It is also open to high-achieving undergraduate students if they have a GPA of 3.0 or above and have completed 75 credit hours or more. The credential is also suitable for applicants seeking structured preparation for professional development, career transition, or later advanced study in accounting or related business disciplines.
