Credit-Bearing Micro-Credential in Environmental Engineering Essentials
The Credit-Bearing Micro-Credential in Environmental Engineering Essentials (CBMC-EEE) is designed to provide students with core knowledge and applied competencies in environmental engineering, with emphasis on environmental chemistry and microbiology, risk assessment, pollution control and treatment, and sustainability. The CBMC integrates fundamental concepts with analytical and design approaches to address contemporary environmental challenges, including water and wastewater treatment, air quality management, waste management, and environmental impact assessment. The CBMC-EEE targets undergraduate students as well as holders of a bachelor’s degree, except currently enrolled UAEU Civil Engineering students.
Admission Requirements
- Existing Undergraduate Students:
- UAEU students must have a Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher at the time of application.
- UAEU students must have scored a grade of B or higher in both courses CHEM111 and CHEM175.
- Students from outside UAEU should meet equivalent requirements, which will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
- Holders of a Bachelor’s Degree:
- Learners should have completed a bachelor’s degree and meet equivalent requirements, which will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Targeted Students
The CBMC-EEE targets UAEU undergraduate students excluding currently enrolled Civil Engineering students at UAEU. Additionally, it is open to professionals holding a bachelor’s degree as well as undergraduate students from outside UAEU, subject to meeting equivalent requirements.
Program Objectives
- Provide students with essential knowledge of environmental engineering principles and laboratory practices
- Equip students with skills to characterize environmental pollution
- Prepare students for further study or professional roles in environmental and sustainability-related fields.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Analyze environmental systems related to water and wastewater, air, and solid waste.
- Demonstrate analytical and design skills to assess environmental pollution.
- Apply laboratory testing methods to characterize water and wastewater, air, and solid waste samples.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations to address environmental engineering problems.
