Minor in Law for Engineering
The Minor in Law for Engineering allows candidates from other disciplines to enhance their knowledge in law. The additional courses in law, that enrolled students in the minor take, will be useful to candidates planning a career in the public, private or commerce sectors. The program provides students with adequate knowledge on the basic concepts and rules of law, with special focus on UAE laws.It has never been more important for employees to be legal minded than in the modern industry. The Minor in Law for Engineering, administered by the College of Law, is designed to provide students with a better understanding of how the law operates in a variety of contexts and develop critical thinking skills.
Admission Requirements
- Min grade requirement: 2.5
- Pre-requisite: Completed 30+ credit hours
- Targeted students: Students at college of Engineering
Program Objectives
- Enable students to learn about the law, and explore topics in the law that matter to their respective careers.
- Provide a deeper understanding of the role that law, legal theory, and legal institutions play in their major field of study.
- Introduce students to the structure and function of the UAE legal system, and enable them to acquire knowledge in a specific area of law relevant to their career trajectory.
- Develop ethical aspects of students’ unique personality, which are necessary for the exercise of the profession.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Explain the concepts and rules of law related to engineering cases, especially under the UAE law
- Implement legal rules in engineering context properly
- Communicate effectively with a range of audiences
- Comply with professional and ethical rules in performing the required tasks.
- Apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.
