Minor of Microwave Engineering
Minor in Microwave Engineering;is a specialized academic program designed to provide students with a deep understanding of the principles, design, and applications of microwave technology. This field is essential for modern communication systems, radar, satellite technology, and defense applications, making it highly relevant in today’s technology-driven world. The minor focuses on electromagnetic theory, microwave circuit design, antenna systems, and radio frequency (RF) engineering, equipping students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
Admission Requirements
- Microwave Engineering Minor is optional.
- Only students enrolled in the Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (BScEE) with a minimum CGPA of 2.5 can enroll in this minor.
- Interested students plan the minor in their 2nd year of studies with the help of a department minor supervisor.
- Students register for the minor program in their 2nd, and 3rd year of their study (the accomplished credit hours greater than 30 and less than 65 CHs)
- Completion of the minor is noted on the student's printed transcript. Failure to complete a registered minor carries no penalty e.g. the transcript does not refer to the minor at all
- Students cannot extend their undergraduate semesters just to complete a minor
- Targeted Students: The program is available for Electrical Engineering (EE) students at UAE University who are interested in specializing in microwave engineering, particularly in the areas of space communication and defense.
Program Objectives
- Provide students with a strong foundation in microwave theory, antenna design, and RF circuit design.
- Develop expertise in areas like space communication, defense technologies, such as radar systems and electronic warfare.
- Align with the UAE’s strategic goals in space exploration, defense technology, and economic diversification.
- Equip graduates with the skills needed to contribute to cutting-edge projects and industries, both locally and globally.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate a solid command of electromagnetic theory and wave propagation at microwave frequencies.
- Design, analyze, and optimize microwave systems with proficiency.
- Acquire practical laboratory experience using microwave design software and measurement instruments.
