Minor of Systems Engineering
The purpose of this minor is to provide engineering students with a multidisciplinary foundation in Systems Engineering, integrating mechanical, electronic, control, and computing principles to develop efficient and reliable systems. Designed to enhance the expertise of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering students, this program fosters system-level thinking and interdisciplinary problem-solving skills. A collaboration between the Departments of Electrical Engineering and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, it ensures a strong foundation in system integration and automation. Additionally, the minor supports the UAE’s regional economic development by preparing graduates for careers in industry, research, and advanced engineering fields.
Admission Requirements
- Min grade requirement: GPA 2.5 or higher
- Pre-requisite: None
- Targeted students: Students in Electrical, Communication, Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering
Program Objectives
- Introduce students to Systems Engineering with a focus on solving engineering problems.
- Provide a strong foundation in systems design, optimization, embedded systems, intelligent systems, control systems, and automation.
- Equip students with the skills to tackle multidisciplinary challenges effectively.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Apply systems engineering concepts to analyze, design, and integrate operational systems effectively
- Solve complex systems engineering problems that address challenges in optimization, automation and control system design.
- Use programming skills and their understanding of electronics and automation technologies to design, integrate, and optimize complex engineering systems.
