Workshop Description
Mentoring graduate students PhD or Masters is a huge responsibility in academic circles. Supervisors as well as students, both have expectations; yet, both also have obligations. However, it is the mentor or supervisor who can make student learning meaningful, challenging and exciting. While the basic rules for engagement and interaction with the graduate students are simple (sometimes dubbed as common sense), some teacher-disciple principles can go a long way in transforming even a disinterested student into an engaged learner and an innovator. The question is what are those principles and how practicing them will allow both mentors and mentees to blossom? Some of these principles are common sense practices, but some require due reflection and consideration. The workshop will carefully review them for a win-win scenario.
