Description: The workshop titled Strategies and Principles for developing healthy active cities delivered by Dr. Marwan who is a faculty member in the Urban Planning track at the UAEU department of Geography and Urban Sustainability. His research interest include issues of urban planning policy and its relationship to sustainable development.
Through this workshop he highlighted that any sustainable approach to promoting physical and mental wellbeing in urban societies cannot overlook the importance of place and the enabling qualities of cities. Indeed the city, in its overall form and the quality of its components, possesses the capacity to enable or hinder healthy and safe living. This workshop explored this relationship between city form, city living and wellbeing while discussing principles and strategies for developing healthy sustainable cities, currently advocated in the practice and theory of urban planning and urban design.
