The UAEU maintained connections and boosted ties with international partners and collaborators.
Existing and historical co-operations have been augmented by new partnerships with leading institutions
internationally, including the University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, John Hopkins University, the
Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology (RCAST) at the University of Tokyo, University of
Castilla-La Mancha - Spain, Helwan University – Egypt, among many others.
Within the United Arab Emirates, UAEU has further positioned its expertise as a center of research for
the benefit of the nation’s industries and future generations. Strong research groups at the UAEU support
emerging industries and companies, such as ADEC, Mubadala, the Health Authority of Abu Dhabi, Al
Ain Municipality, Institute of Training and Judicial Studies, Schlumberger, ADNOC, TOTAL, Ministry of
Environment and Water (UAE), Air Force & Defense - UAE Military Force, Advanced Technology Investment
Company (ATIC) and many others.
Following the success of the initial roll-out of mobile learning through the iPad initiative at foundation level
in 2012, UAEU continues to innovate in digital learning, implementing mobile learning in several courses in its
degree programs. This modification to the traditional learning process has had a direct impact on students’
creativity and critical thinking skills, in addition to enabling them to communicate more effectively. In addition
to this UAEU also launched on Apple’s iTunes U, the world’s largest online catalog of free educational content.
It allows the University to distribute world-class educational content to the world at large, where students
can get a rich, immersive learning experience beyond the classroom.
The many accomplishments presented in this Annual Report explain why so many faculty, staff, students,
parents, alumni and community members feel a great pride in the UAEU.
UAEU is committed to continuing on this pathway… to capitalize on the opportunities afforded by our
great campus and facilities, our excellent staff and teachers, our research activity, and our national and
international partnerships to provide a world-class education to our students.
