The National Space Science and Technology Center at UAEU Announces the Successful Launch of the “SEO” Satellite

The National Space Science and Technology Center (NSSTC) at the United Arab Emirates University announces the successful launch of the “SEO” satellite aboard a Long March 2C (LM-2C) launch vehicle from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center (TSLC).

This achievement comes as part of the Center’s continuous efforts to develop national space projects that help strengthen the UAE’s capabilities in the space sector and support the nation’s drive toward leadership in science, technology, and innovation. The “SEO” mission also represents an extension of the Center’s ongoing commitment to developing national talent and empowering Emirati researchers and engineers to gain advanced hands-on experience in the design, development, and operation of satellites, in collaboration with several international partners.

The mission is expected to support scientific research and advanced technological applications related to sustainability and future development by providing valuable data and insights that contribute to environmental protection, natural resource management, and enhanced planning and decision-making efficiency. The “SEO” mission further highlights the importance of leveraging advanced space technologies to support national efforts aligned with sustainability goals and comprehensive development.

On this occasion, H.E. Eng. Salem Butti Al Qubaisi, Director General of the UAE Space Agency, stated: “The successful launch of satellite ‘SEO’ reflects the UAE’s vision and National Space Strategy aimed at reinforcing the country’s position among the world’s leading nations in the space sector, while enhancing the role of advanced science and technology in supporting sustainable development and the knowledge economy. This mission also demonstrates the importance of integration between national and academic institutions in building an advanced space ecosystem that contributes to developing national talent and empowering future generations to lead the future of the space sector”.

DR. Nabil Mohammed Al Bastaki, Director of the National Space Science and Technology Center, added: “The ‘SEO’ project represents an extension of the Center’s efforts in developing national space projects that contribute to building Emirati capabilities and enhancing the practical expertise of researchers and engineers in the fields of satellite design, development, and operations. We are proud today of the successful launch of this mission, which reflects the Center’s advanced technical and operational readiness, in addition to its state of the art infrastructure, including its Assembly, Integration and Testing facilities and the ground station in Al Ain.”
