Under the efforts of the United Arab Emirates University to enhance its international academic and research partnerships, a delegation from the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine conducted a scientific visit to the People’s Republic of China from May 24 to 31, 2026.
The visit included several universities and specialized research centers in smart agriculture, food security, biosafety, and veterinary medicine. The delegation was briefed on the latest technologies and innovations in sustainable agriculture, crop improvement, and natural resource management. Furthermore, it explored potential opportunities for cooperation in joint research projects, as well as academic and student exchange programs with leading Chinese institutions.
Prof. Mohammed Alyafei, Dean of the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine at the United Arab Emirates University, affirmed that this visit aligns with the College’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with leading academic and research institutions and advancing the exchange of knowledge and expertise in priority areas of agriculture and veterinary sciences. He added that the visit contributed to identifying promising opportunities for research partnerships and supporting food security and sustainability, in addition to providing students with access to the latest practices and global technologies in agricultural and veterinary fields.
The delegation visited several specialized research facilities, including the UAE–China Friendship Palm Farm, the Coconut Research Center, Hainan University, South China Agricultural University, and Sun Yat-sen University. Both sides discussed ways to develop effective partnerships that support agricultural innovation and strengthen food security and sustainability.
