UAEU Announces the Fourth International Congress of the World Heart Failure Society with the Patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak

The College of Medicine and Health Sciences at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) held a press conference about the Fourth International Congress of the World Heart Failure Society, which will be held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak (the Mother of the UAE), Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Supreme president of the Family Development Foundation and Head of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood. The Congress will be held in collaboration with Tawam Hospital and Al Ain Hospital at the Danat Al Ain Hotel from 11th to 13th of December, 2014.
Professor Dennis Templeton, Dean of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences and Professor Elsadig Kazzam, President of the World Heart Failure Society and President of Fourth International Congress of the World Heart Failure Society, took part in the press conference. Professor Templeton stressed the importance of holding such a congress at this time and hosting it in the UAE, as represented by the first national university. All of which enhances the research status of the university through hosting medical and health experts from various countries around the world. In total 800 doctors and experts from 20 countries around the world will attend.
Professor Kazzam expressed his appreciation of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak for patronizing the congress, and her eagerness to make it a success. It is to be hoped that the congress can come up with recommendations that effectively contribute to reducing the effects of heart disease. The President of the Congress pointed out that Her Highness is patronizing the congress for the second time after her generous patronage of the first one in Al Ain in 2008.
Professor Kazzam added that there are 90 research papers in the field of heart disease and heart failure that have been submitted, including various papers in specialist heart disciplines. Such papers represent the scientific research and developments in this area. Professor Kazzam explained that the importance of this scientific congress is due to the fact that this mostly effects the elderly and people with diabetes, high blood pressure and arterial disease. In addition the current obesity epidemic makes a raising of the awareness that prevention is better than a cure even more pressing.
