In order to prepare students with the skills necessary to join the labor market after graduation, the Professional Training and Development Unit in the College of Information Technology organized training workshops from August 24^th to 26^th, 2015 in the College of Information Technology building.

Dr. Shawqi Kharbash, Assistant Dean for Professional Development in the College of Information Technology was the supervisor for these workshops. He said that these workshops were designed to give students some practical training in the first semester of the 2015-2016 academic year. This is done in order to develop skills, hone talent and to prepare students to enter the labor market. This is in line with the university’s desire to prepare graduates for their respective fields in the hope that they will make a contribution to the national labor market.

Dr. Kharbash added that the college’s training regime is not limited to students who are expected to graduate but includes everyone. However, the focus is on hands-on training in practical situations to prepare graduates to enter the labor market and to improve their chances of getting a suitable job in line with their qualifications and abilities.

Dr. Sufian Abu-Rmaileh conducted three workshops. The first one dealt with effective C.V. writing skills that can allow students to market their qualifications and skills. It also looked at building networks, professional behaviors and the skills for successful job interviews. The second workshop tackled professional ethics, principles and core foundations. Additionally, this session looked carefully at the principles of leadership, teamwork and interactive workplace skills that can raise productivity. In the third workshop he presented on the topics of effective communication skills, positive communication strategies, public speaking and the effective presentation of ideas and projects, as well as the ethics of conducting a professional meeting.
