The United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) recognized the research efforts of 53 of its faculty members who have brought distinction to the University by publishing their research findings in the top ranking journals of their disciplines in the year 2013. The top 1%, 5%, and 10% journals of each discipline were compiled using both SCOPUS and Web of Science databases. A total of 62 research articles with UAEU faculty members as corresponding authors in the top 1%, 5%, and 10% journals and 4 research articles with UAEU faculty members as co-authors in the top 1% were acknowledged.
These achievements could not have been made without the long-term commitment of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Mubarak Al Nahayan, the Chancellor of UAEU and Minister for Higher Education and Scientific Research, and his continued support of researchers in order to promote research culture and excellence at the UAEU.
Moreover, the encouragement of H.E. Dr. Ali Rashid Al Noaimi, UAEU Vice Chancellor, to increase research output of the UAEU investigators along with enhanced research funding has been a great boost towards this milestone. Dr. Ali stated that “the UAEU is very proud of the achievement of its faculty members and is keen to continue supporting scientific research in order to enhance research productivity at the UAEU and strengthen its position among the most prestigious research universities in the region and the world”. He also stressed that “the university would like to enhance its capacity for innovation in areas of national and regional significance with the support of all its faculty members”.
Prof. Ghaleb Alhadrami, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies, also thanked the faulty members for their achievement and said that “the university administration is committed to providing full support to the faculty members towards achieving their research goals and help drive the faculty members to publish in highly ranked international journals increasing the UAEU visibility and rankings”.
