In order to strengthen the exchange of knowledge, science and research between the United Arab Emirates University and its overseas counterparts UAEU received a delegation of 13 students and 5 faculty from the Department of Economic Geography at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany, on the morning of Sunday,  October 11^th     2015 .

Dr. Ali Al Kaabi, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Enrollment, welcomed the delegation, and stressed the eagerness of UAEU to communicate with global educational counterparts. This is based on a strategy of interaction with other universities which reflects UAEU’s role as the number one university in the UAE. UAEU stresses scientific research and development in line with the country’s leaders’ commitment to general and, more specifically, higher education.

Professor Saif Al Qaydi, Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, invited the delegation to learn all about the programs on offer in the college; to discuss the college’s development and educational journey as it strives to keep abreast of the latest developments in both global and local terms. He further stressed the benefits of academic visits and exchange as both universities can gain expertise and learn from each other.

Professor Dr. Rudolf Juchelka, Head of the Department of Economic Geography at the University of Duisburg-Essen, expressed his gratitude for the reception and hospitality received from UAEU. He hoped that academic visits between the two universities will continue.

The German delegation had an introductory tour of the campus, during which they met with students from the Department of Geography and Urban Planning. They were briefed on the programs of study available and learned about UAE culture through various events organized by the department. The visit will last for one week.
