As part of a community partnership
The United Arab Emirates University organized an awareness lecture on the National Strategy for Youth Empowerment on Monday, October 26th, 2015 in the Crescent building. This is a national document that reaffirms the commitment of the country to its youth. It identifies priorities and directions as part of this commitment.
A group of student volunteer from the Department of Student Activities at UAEU took part in the event organized by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development, in cooperation with the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare.
Mr. Hashim Al Wali, Director of External Coordination and Liaison for the National Strategy for Youth Empowerment, defined the strategy in detail. He explained its objectives and preparation. He also talked about projects that interest young people, and explored their views and aspirations. The lecture targeted national male and female students and was held in the presence of university staff.
At the end of the lecture students were invited to participate in electronic statistical research prepared by the working group. It is the first statistical research into the views of UAE youth (aged 18-34) and it aims to identify their views on issues concerning their lives and society. This will serve as a basis for preparing policies and strategies for UAE youth in the future.
