The United Arab Emirates University organizes a retreat to develop its strategic plan for 2017-2021

The United Arab Emirates University held a retreat to review and prepare the first draft of its strategic plan for 2017-2021. It was held in the presence of His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chancellor of UAEU. He stressed the importance of holding this meeting to prepare a strategic plan that supports the university’s pursuit of excellence in line with the best international standards. This helps to strengthen UAEU’s position amongst international universities and other institutions of higher education, scientific research and innovation in the UAE. UAEU is the foremost academic institution in the country, with a commitment to maintaining social values ​​and principles in order to meet the aspirations and vision of the UAE’s leadership in terms of global competitiveness.

His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan stressed that the strategic plan was in line with strategic planning on a country-wide basis as the UAE seeks to achieve its goals. He explained that the university aims to develop plans and programs in order to support national initiatives such as improving innovation and encouraging creativity. This has been pursued by UAEU in order to contribute to an environment that stimulates innovation, ensures academic excellence and supplies the labor market with well-qualified graduates. UAEU also supports scientific research that contributes to the development of both the local and regional community through promoting a knowledge-based economy and striving for sustainable development.

Dr. Ali Rashid Al Noaimi, Vice Chancellor of the University, stressed that the directives of His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chancellor of the University, are in line with the strategic direction of the national leadership. This is reflected in the adoption of policies on innovation and creativity in various fields and academic institutions. This is especially the case with UAEU which is a leading institution in terms of developing a spirit of innovation, initiative and excellence. The university applies the best global practices in its work and is always keen to formulate strategic plans that meets the needs of the community and the nation. Therefore, UAEU adopts governmental initiatives and trends in order to contribute to supporting the development of the UAE.

The university seeks to engage all aspects of the institution from deans, professors, heads of academic departments, students, departmental managers and administrators, in order to ensure effective, collective participation in the development of the current strategic plan, while promoting science and education that serves the mission statement of UAEU and meets the strategic needs of the country.
