As part of a series of workshops organized by the innovation support team: The United Arab Emirates University organizes a ‘Culture of Innovation’ workshop

The innovation support team at the United Arab Emirates University recently organized a workshop entitled ‘the Culture of Innovation’, as part of a series of workshops. The workshop was attended by Professor Ghaleb Ali Al Hadrami, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies; Dr. Khaula Al Kaabi, Chair of the Geography and Urban Planning Department; the head of the innovation support team and faculty, staff and students.

Dr. Khaula Al Kaabi said that “in order to strengthen the position of the UAE in terms of innovation and to consolidate a culture of innovation at the university, the innovation support team conducts workshops to generate new ideas.”

Ms. Al Yaziyah Al Dhaheri, Director of Planning and the Academic and Institutional Development Department at UAEU talked about the appetite for innovation shown by federal authorities in 2015. The Office of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers has called upon all university staff to participate.

Dr. Yazeed Bin Shaaban from the innovation support team gave a presentation about the culture of innovation; how one can create an idea and turn it into an innovation by thinking differently, asking questions and learning from the experiences and ideas of others. This includes creative reading.

Professor Mohamed Al Humairi, Head of the Intellectual Property Department in the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies, presented on the detail of the ‘Idea Gist Program’, which processes ideas through review, correction, testing, and sets challenges to test its resilience. Later it can be developed and improved.

The ‘Idea Gist Program’ for the management of ideas was developed by the university in order to turn innovative ideas into reality.
